The proprietor of Cold Spring Brook Farm in Berlin, Eric Peterson, said that Tuesday was drenched in severe rain.
It poured. We had three inches of rain in roughly 30 minutes, according to Peterson.
Fields, particularly those used for growing eggplant, were flooded and roads were washed out.
"You get enormous standing puddles like you see behind me which sort of must be hauled out of there and depleted," said Peterson.
Peterson crossed the line downpour can prompt sicknesses, and sloppy fields are hopeless to work in.
"Ideally it quits coming down and it dries out. It makes it difficult for us to get out into the fields and work, to carry farm trucks into the field and just to get our folks into the field to collect. We actually have a great deal of digging and weeding work to do," said Peterson.
